The Metraverse as a personliaty simulation
Trend report shows Gen Z, the metaverse native generation, use their avatar to become an imaginative character they invented or someone they idolize. Basically, the real reason for them to enter the metaverse is to simulate being someone else and grow by doing that.
Metaverse as a Life simulator: Explore oppurtonities before you choose your own adventure in life.
Reconsider the value of Play in everything
In 2014 “Be another lab” prototyped the “Machine to be another”. A VR experience to enter another person’s body in real-time. There is a huge potential in connecting synchronically with someone else’s POV through immersive interfaces.
Observe Web2 Social feeds as how we exchange emotions online. Visual white lies in the form of sticky notes we post on the town square wall.
We are grooming the people we want to be on those social feeds.
Social lies.
We don’t feel how it is to be them. We don’t own this life we represent.
In my opinion, the Metaverse can change that, because we would own our avatars, we “own” the feeling of what it means to be them.
What’s next? NFT as a role-play API.
I’ve been around the early days of NFT Clubhouse and NFT Twitter, when we changed our profile pictures with NFT characters, it was named: PFP NFTs. A generative movement of 2D concept art NFT characters introduced Role-Play to an adult crowd of web3 early adopters.
During this year We’ve built a 3D NFT generator addon to Blender because we belive the next step for PFPs would be 3D fully rigged avatars and wearables that are owned by the players and integrated into games and 3D multiplayer environments.
PLAY is underestimated.
Avatars and wearables become an investment that brings more adults to seriously play.
The “Work Dont play” myth has been going on since the industrial revolution. We’ve been placing kids in factory simulations (schools) that later became cubicle simulations (offices).
Adult play is usually referenced to gaming, but most games are a space to live your violent fantasies. Until today adult gamers didn’t gather in masses on virtual environments to simulate shared visions and develop their emotional intelligence.
My hope is that Metaverse simulations with Web3 ownership around avatars and wearables would introduce a concept of Role Play as a tool for Personal Growth for a generation that stopped playing.
